Not talking about if they are good enough, just theoretically if they were, they'd get an invite

Venables would be a good hire.

Stop, you just want to get rid of him. He isn't a popular choice and thats for sure.

I couldn't think of anything good to say so I had to stop there.

Any further rumblings about hiring Venables?

I heard he was here for most of the weekend and met a lot of recruits. I think Dabo wants Venables and wants this deal done by the end of the week. Ball is in Venables court for now, Clemson will start to entertain other options (Shannon, Clark, Heater?) as the week goes on.

Here's what we need for a DC...

-Younger guy who wants to prove himself, not a washed up guy from a bigger program / nfl
    -Simpler scheme
    -Liked by Morris
-Will want our S&C changed (along w/ Morris)
    -Can coach LB's

Do this, and we're increasing our ability to become a consistent team.

Apparently Venables is scheduled to be in an in-home with an Oklahoma recruit tonight. Take that for what it's worth, but I'd venture to guess he won't be leaving Oklahoma. Venables wants to be a Head Coach, I'm not sure how he is doing himself any favors by playing second fiddle to the Stoops.

Not a huge fan of your bars closing at 12 on Saturdays. However I like the way Overtime and whatever that place below it get around it with that private club deal. Always a way around the rules

If I were a Clemson fan I would be hoping K-States dc leaves for South Florida. Venables to Kansas State makes more sense than Clemson or staying at Oklahoma.

Nah. Bad blood between KState and Venables, and Snyder's son is the heir apparent. Venables is ours, and he'll be great for us.

Apparently we really wanted to keep him. Even said we'd match the offer Clemson gave him.

How's this going to affect recruiting for both OU and Clemson this cycle?

We're pretty much done this cycle, but I expect it to pay dividends next year.

It'd be nice if Venables could get some D-Line recruits to follow him down here, but like Hugo said, our class is pretty much done. Next year will be fun to watch Dabo and company recruit off an ACC Championship combined with two big coordinator hires.

Next year expect a ridiculous haul. The only thing I hope for Venables is that his scheme isn't hard for the players. It's frustrating to see players just not get it and have to wait till their Junior/Senior years to make a contribution.

I actually like the class this year. I think we addressed areas of need.
